I absolutely love documenting real stories through my wedding photography and so excited to receive another award from the prestigious Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) for their Q4 2015 competition.

It’s such an honour and a privilege to have my images placed on this prestigious global platform that really embraces photojournalism at weddings.

This particular image focusses on ” The Thaali ” and considered the most auspicious moment of a tamil hindu wedding, couples ask their priest on the best hour to the groom to tie the gold chain on his bride to complete the marriage ceremonies and this time is planned months in advance. Its a precious moment, equivalent to a groom placing the wedding ring on his bride’s hand whilst reciting his wedding vows.

So much importance is placed on this one specific moment from a tamil wedding, echoing in the judge’s comments; I feel this image does represent the calm amongst the storm.
