Hung and Long – Old Royal Naval College Greenwich
Documenting weddings from all different faiths and background is undoubtedly a personal favourite of mine. As the world around us constantly evolves, it is a comfort to see how family tradition is gifted down from generation to generation and remains a steady constant. Hung and Long met at university and were united as husband and wife, against the regal backdrop of the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich.
In order for Long to gain acceptance from Hung’s family, he had to prove himself, with the help of his best men. Like a true gentleman, each challenge was accepted and met with steely determination, in honour of his love for Hung, regardless of how extreme of ridiculous they may have appeared.
This was then followed by the tea ceremony; pouring tea for the elders is a sign of respect in the oriental culture and is performed with great care. It was a blessing to witness such a tradition that encompasses the different generations and brings with it a sense of unity to the joyous occasion.
The rest of the day saw many more fun traditions unfold, with the traditional Chinese toasts drawing the festivities to an end and beckoning the start of less conventional celebrations. With Souljah boy and Gangnam Style ringing through the speakers, all those present were sure that the day had been a remarkable nod to age-old traditions and heritage as well as a great contemporary celebration. A big thanks to Anna from LunaPics for granting me the opportunity to document such a beautiful event.
